I retired from Region VII Education Service Center last Aug. where I worked as Education Coordinator for there Head Start Program.
Last year I ran for State Representative. I was not elected, but ran a good race (over 40% of the vote against a wealthy incumbent.)
I currently volunteer with a local early childhood coalition, "Champions for Children." One of our agencies most successful events has been the North Pole Express utilizing the Texas State Railroad. I have served as coordinator of that event in the past. I plan to start a consulting firm with a colleague that retires at the end of this month.
Since the election, we have been traveling. Our most recent trip was to Norway where we met my daughter's boyfriend's family.
My husbant Larry is a retired psychologist. Worked with UTMB in the prison system. He is the current chair of the Anderson County Democratic Party.
My daughter, Sheryl, lives in Austin and plans to return to school spring 2008, to work on a Master's Degree in biology. She received her B. S. degree in Advertising 3 years ago. Her boyfriend, Andreas Leonardsen, of Trondheim, Norway, is working on a degree in Radio, Film, and TV at the University of Texas at Austin.
Larry and I stay busy. We are involved in lots of local activities and politics. We also enjoy traveling, camping, and gardening. Additionally I enjoy photography and scrapbooking.
